Applications Engineer – Database Specialist
Location: Milton Keynes (60% onsite)
Job Type: Contract
Day Rate: £417 p.d outside IR35

We are looking for an experienced Applications Engineer with strong database management skills to join our team. You’ll maintain, configure, and optimize SQL Servers and other database systems in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• SQL Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Servers using industry best practices.
• High Availability & Replication: Manage Always On Availability Groups and database replication.
• Backup/Restore: Ensure database backups and restores are executed efficiently.
• Database Security: Manage roles and permissions, with experience in RBAC implementation.
• Reporting: Collaborate on SSRS reporting for business needs.
• Cloud Platforms: Utilize Azure and AWS knowledge for cloud-based databases.

Required Skills:

• Experience with MS SQL Server, Postgres, MariaDB, and Powershell scripting.
• Proven ability in secure, enterprise environments (e.g., MOD, Home Office).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
• Strong analytical and technical documentation skills.
