Technical Delivery Manager
The Role
We are currently looking for a talented Technical Delivery Manager to join our team. As the Technical Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end delivery of Secure Defence Collaboration services, ensuring successful project execution, customer satisfaction, and business growth. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of project management within the defence and national security sectors.
Role Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, specifying technical tasks, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Oversee the project life cycle, including planning, execution, testing, delivery and service transition phases.
- Ensure that project deliverables meet the defined requirements and quality standards.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, including developers, engineers, quality assurance, and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate project stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring clear communication and alignment among team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the technical team and business stakeholders.
- Provide regular project updates and progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage expectations by effectively communicating project timelines, risks, and dependencies.
- Proactively identify and monitor project risks, issues, and roadblocks, developing mitigation strategies.
- Escalate critical issues to senior leadership when necessary.
- Maintain a risk register and track mitigation efforts.
- Apply a strong understanding of technical concepts to guide project teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of technical solutions with overall business and technical strategies.
- Assist in technical decision-making and provide direction to engineering teams.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring that expenses are within the allocated resources.
- Track and report financials, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Optimise the use of internal and external resources, including vendor and contractor management.
- Ensure that quality control processes are implemented and adhered to throughout the project.
- Collaborate with quality assurance and testing teams to validate deliverables.
- Ensure that testing cycles and feedback loops are completed before project launches.
- Conduct project lessons learnt and continual improvement workshops to assess successes, challenges, and areas for enhancements.
- Document and share lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
- Provide ongoing support and oversight for launched projects, ensuring smooth transitions to operational teams.
Education and Experience Requirements
As the Technical Delivery Manager, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a proven history operating within the technology sector.
- Relevant certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of success in delivering technology projects within defence or national security/infrastructure sectors.
- Proven success in delivering technology projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.).
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Keyed in, or similar tools.
- Ability to create and maintain project plans, timelines, and dashboards.
- Strong documentation, report generation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this position. Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain SC clearance, with a view to obtaining UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance as required.
